YES!
OK, yeah I'm earning some cash by promoting lessons, but hear me out! We all know the only way to get better at something is by doing it. But what if we're doing it wrong? Learning how to do something the wrong way can be hard to unlearn, and MANY people (including yours truly) have learned kayaking habits that aren't exactly the right way to do it.
Whether your in town for the day or the weekend from Raleigh or Charlotte, or here for the week from out of state. you probably have not paddled in a while, if ever. It's always good to get a refresher.
Included in a rental is a BASIC rundown on how to paddle efficiently, and how to stay in your boat until you WANT to get out.
With a tour, you'll get some unsolicited pointers while on the water, as a good guide will see someone struggling and do their best to help them
But for the best learning experience, a customized private or small group lesson is the best way to hone your kayaking skills and enjoy your time on the water, learning to control your boat rather than have the boat control you.
So if you're interested in learning how to be a better paddler, take some lessons. Take lessons from different people. One great part of the paddling community is that even the pros learn from each other, whether it's paddling technique, new gear, how to load the boat on your roof racks, etc.
